Cayuga Nation in Turmoil

Cayuga fortress under attack
Several incidents last week have thrust our tribe into conflict with the neighboring tribes; Onondaga, Mohawk, Seneca, and Oneida. Early in the week Talks Crazy vanished from the Mohawk Nation. Believing that our Cayuga nation was responsible, the Mohawks promptly retaliated with an attack aimed at our village near the river. One of our longhouses was set on fire, and food was stolen. After the dust settled, Paytah, an elder member of our bear clan, was missing. However, a total of seven Mohawk warriors were captured in the siege. Our tribe is up in arms and ready to return the aggression, but hopefully the mysterious newcomer from the north will bring about peace amongst our 5 nations.  The events of the coming weeks will be crucial to the future peace of the nations of the Iroquois League.

  1. I just realized the spelling words are listed at the bottom of your blog. Can you create a PDF of the words so we can print them out? Perhaps they could be saved next to the math and writing homework notices.

  2. I copied and pasted to a word document and had to change ink color as it appeared gray. Also - quick question - is there still Spelling Tic Tac Toe or do the kids just have to practice for the spelling test via list?

  3. Kes, that is a good idea. I will try and get on that so that you can print the words at home. Thanks for your patience.

  5. The tic tac toe spelling words are different than what you had listed yesterday. The challenge words at the bottom of you blog are the same but not the regular words. Unfortunately, I did not copy and paste them so I'm not sure which words I should have Kylie practice.

  6. Sorry for the error. My fault. It should be updated now. Check the spelling/vocabulary folder for the correct words each week/unit. Thanks for being patient with me. This has been a good opportunity for my students to see an adult make mistakes. All that I want from them and myself is to learn from those mistakes with a little bit of grace. That is what I hope to model throughout all of these growing pains. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns about the HW. Thanks.
